Geevor Tin Mine

Who we are

Geevor is the largest preserved mining site in the UK and a multi-award-winning visitor attraction located in the far west of Cornwall. Pendeen Community Heritage (PCH) was formed as a charity in 2000 to manage the former working mine on behalf of Cornwall Council. PCH has been working with Lang Bennetts ever since.

The challenge

We are a team of dedicated staff and volunteers who are passionate about preserving Geevor for generations to come. Most of us didn’t have significant experience of running either a charity or a sizeable commercial venture when we started, which is why we turned to Lang Bennetts. For more than twenty years, they have acted as our trusted advisors – helping us set up a charity trading subsidiary to run the mine shop, assisting us with our Cornwall Council contract renewal and long term lease and generally being there for every milestone change in our development as a visitor destination of choice.

Our experience

They’re always there when we need them. No question is ever too silly, and they put us at ease when they visit. Their expertise has contributed to our success as a tourist attraction and they’re always happy to share their knowledge and work with us on operational efficiency.

In a nutshell they:

  • Prepare our charity accounts
  • Act as independent examiners for our charity
  • Attend our annual general meeting
  • Advised on setting up our charity trading subsidiary
  • Helped us renew our Cornwall Council contract
  • Advise on our strategic development
  • Provide on-site training when required
  • Are always approachable and willing to help
  • Feel like an integral part of our team
