Businesses today need to understand all aspects of communication and technology just to stay in the game, let alone get ahead of the game. Running a company can be a complicated affair, especially as many people find themselves confused by something as straightforward as the TV remote.
Now small businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly can benefit from match funding from the European Regional Development Fund which will help them to exploit digital technology to develop new products and services, to access new markets and create jobs that will benefit the local economy.
The good news is that there is no charge for qualifying businesses as Superfast Business Cornwall – which gets grants from the EU to provide expert advice and support – is funded until 2019. They are looking for projects over £20,000, enabled by Superfast Broadband, which would benefit from match funding on revenue elements. Capital projects are excluded.
Applicants must be companies of less than 250 employees and have a balance sheet of below £50 million. Certain industries are excluded – including agriculture and fisheries and the provision of social welfare facilities.
The kind of projects which would qualify might be new software development, bespoke apps, high quality live video streaming or remote working. Superfast Business Cornwall provide plenty of back-up with one to one advice and guidance from an experienced online business adviser and then help from a Digital Business Enabler to steer applicants through the process.
Once a panel meets to deliberate the application, a decision can be expected within ten days.
Superfast Business Cornwall also provide workshops, specialist support and have an online knowledge bank covering a range of issues.
