Truro-based accountants and business advisers Lang Bennetts have announced their first expansion out of the city with the opening of a harbourside office at Greenbank Quay, Falmouth, part of the Greenbank Hotel complex. The expansion has been prompted by a number of recent retirements in Falmouth’s accounting fraternity and the firm’s recognition of the town as a vibrant growth area for business. The new office is being managed by Loreen Shepherd, assisted by Gina Wilkes, both of whom have moved from Briants, another Falmouth accountancy firm. Both obtained their qualifications through apprenticeship schemes at Cornwall College. Loreen went on to qualify as a chartered certified accountant and her experience includes four years as a manager at Falmouth firm H E Boaden. Gina, who grew up in Greenbank Road, qualified as an accounting technician and went on to work in the industry sector – as financial controller at Trebah Gardens and Shelterbox – before returning to practice two years ago. Lang Bennetts partner Colin Truscott commented: “Falmouth has lost a number of eminent accountants in recent years through retirement and, sadly, bereavement." "Together with the town’s acknowledged potential for substantial business growth, we believe there is effectively a gap in the market here and confidently anticipate raising our staffing level at Falmouth to around five within the next 12 to 18 months." |
